When American Idol champ and budding diva Carrie Underwood returns for her second consecutive fair on Sunday, Aug. 26, for a 7:30 p.m. concert (tickets are $50 and $55), it will mark another step in what has been a long road to notoriety for her opening act, 38-year-old Rodney Atkins. Although his hometown, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., isn't far from Nashville, Music City sure took its sweet time embracing Atkins, who released his first CD in 1997. It wasn't until his 2006 single "If You're Going Through Hell," from the Curb CD of the same title, that he found widespread recognition among fans. His inspired current release, "These Are My People," is sure to be a live highlight.

Though they cannot supplant nor replace other methodologies, films can possibly raise new questions, provide different perspectives, and reveal unique ways of knowing about seminal subject, at least by comparison to the standard fare of academic analysis. Each one, "ethics" and "leadership," draw upon substantially different intellectual literatures, scholarly methodologies, traditional assumptions, and disciplinary perspectives. Film, often far better than social science literature, may provide a more "holistic account" of not only individual lives, but entire situations where ethical leadership is practiced. Finally, ethical leadership includes the use of symbols. Symbols abound throughout, thus giving the story meaning, depth, and power beyond simply "a typical feel-good" movie. List...

The Band Perry's breakthrough single, "If I Die Young," by siblings Kimberly (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Reid (bass guitar) and Neil Perry (drums, mandolin and accordion) has been one of the most played on country radio this past year. The poignant ballad found on the band's self-titled debut album takes maudlin subject matter and imbues it with touching positivity. Over a fiddle-laced melody Kimberly reflects on a life well lived in a manner that's instantly endearing.
It was the first song written for the album and we were so excited," said 27-year-old Perry, the sole writer of "If I Die Young" and oldest child of the family from Mobile, Ala. "We looked at each other and realized we had lived pretty complete lives even though we were just in our young 20s. It's a reminde...
