The crash occurred at 10:30 a.m., when the driver of a 1992 Honda Accord lost control of the car after passing a semi-truck on Van Belle Road, the State Patrol said.

DEAR Tom and Ray: We're buying a car for my 17-year-old son. I've found two cars locally that appeal to us - a classic 1968 VW with a few thousand miles on a rebuilt engine, and a 1992 Honda Accord with power everything, a four-cylinder engine and 162,000 miles. Dozens of Victorville residents briefly lost power this morning after a man fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a power pole, authorities said. Sheriff's officials responded to the 8 a.m. accident at Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive and found an unoccupied 1992 Honda Accord at the base of a standing power pole. The driver, 30-year-old Gonzalo Vizcarra, was found walking nearby and brought back to the scene.

Dear Tom and Ray: I own a burgundy 1992 Honda Accord. About six months ago, I couldn't get the car to start. Looking under the hood, I discovered that the clamp on the positive battery cable had completely corroded away. I made a quick fix with a hose clamp, but figuring that was only a temporary solution, I took the car to my local dealer and had the entire battery cable harness replaced. Yesterday, I went to give someone a jump-start and discovered that the new battery cable clamp on the positive side had turned to mush. It is literally liquefied, and appears to be melting away. It was also completely covered with a mound of bright blue-green, powdery material. What is going on? The battery is only about a year old. - Joel Ray: Your battery has acid reflux, Joel.
