ALEXANDER - Bernard Phillip Flood, 85, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Calais Regional Hospital with his loving sister by his side. Bernard was born June 1, 1926, in Alexander, son of the late Raymond and Doris (Woods) Flood. He started working in the woods with his father at a young age. On Sept. 14, 1949, he married the love of his life, Barbara J. Deane. Bernard then began his career with Georgia Pacific, retiring with 25 years of service. After retiring from the mill, he became a deputy sheriff for Washington County Sheriff's Department for several years. Bernard loved the Lord and was a member of Church of the Open Bible, Alexander, which he helped build. This article examines how retirement income at age 67 is likely to change for baby boomers and generation Xers compared with current retirees. The authors use the Modeling Income in the Near Term model to project retirement income, assets, poverty rates, and replacement rates for current and future retirees at age 67. In absolute terms, retirement incomes of future cohorts will increase over time, and poverty rates will fall.
