The National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF) Major Division World Series will be held in the Buffalo/Niagara region, Aug. 15- 19, 2012. The World Series will bring in 10 regional winners to competing for the national amateur title. Buffalo's West Herr won the tournament last year. The Sloan Bruins (1970), Eldredge Club (1974), the Buffalo Voyageurs (1979) and the Orchard Park Sox (2005) are the only Buffalo-based teams to win the World Series, which dates back to 1914.
The Buffalo MUNY AAA will utilize Sal Maglie Stadium, ECC North Campus, Orchard Park High School and The Northtown Center (UB) as the main fields of play. The league is still hoping to strike a deal with the Buffalo Bisons to play the championship game at Coca- Cola Field on Aug. 19.

The Astros' Phil Garner and the A's Ken Macha should be leading candidates for Manager of the Year awards. Both the Astros and A's were 15 games under .500 in late May. Only one team that fell that many games under .500 has rebounded to make the postseason-the 1914 Miracle Braves, who won the World Series.

Anyway, shortly before their Dodgers were beaten by the Mets in the National League Divisi...

There are many "travel ball" national championships in youth baseball. AAU, AABC, CABA, IBC, USSSA are some of the acronyms. But the oldest and one of the most respected is the National Amateur Baseball Federation, which started in 1914.
The NABF Sophomore (14U) World Series will touch down at Brandt Field in Springboro and other local sites starting Wednesday. Kinect is the host team of the 32-team field.

Those who have practically memorized the scenes from the movie, "The Natural," certainly remember one baseball scene. Roy Hobbs hits the ball so hard during a rainstorm that the cover of the baseball lands in the infield, while the rest of the ball goes into the outfield.
Great script-writing, right? In truth, it actually happened in batting practice.
