The coming days are busy ones in and around Shiloh National Military Park. The site, about 100 miles due east of Memphis, was home to the bloody Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, on April 6-7, 1862.
That makes this the sesquicentennial of the battle, and the official events begin on Wednesday and run through April 8. Re- enactments by both the Blue-Gray Alliance and the Armies of Tennessee begin this weekend.
