On Feb. 12, 16 years ago, I was 32 weeks pregnant awaiting the birth of my first child who was due the first week of March. I went to sleep that night, restless, as with all other nights during my pregnancy. The next morning, I started getting contractions; 18 hours later, at 2 a.m. on Feb. 14, I had a baby boy. I did not even remember it was Valentine's Day until I got heart-shaped balloons and heart-shaped cakes and almost every heart-shaped thing as congratulations gifts!
