NORWALK - Incumbent Lowell Joint School District board member Gayle Rodgers has filed re-election papers. Two other board seats, Darin Barber's and Jan Averill's, are also due to be on the ballot in the Nov. 7 election. The deadline to file to run for the board is 5 p.m. Aug. 11. Interested candidates must file at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's Office, 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk.
Today is the last day for voters to mail in their absentee ballots. However, ballots can still be hand-delivered to any polling place or the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder's office on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The office is located at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk, and hours will be extended this weekend for those who wish to cast their early votes in person.
Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will offer several upcoming classes to train individuals how to register voters and conduct petition drives. Deputy Registrar Training sessions will be offered from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and on Oct. 4 and 11 at the RR/CC headquarters, 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.

NORWALK - The Los County Registrar-Recorder County Clerk's office was closed and one floor was quarantined Wednesday after an envelope containing suspicious white powder and threatening language was discovered by an employee, officials said. Authorities received the call of a suspicious package about 11:30 a.m. at 12400 Imperial Highway, said Norwalk sheriff's Sgt. Craig Harman.
