The Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society Floral Design Group has been invited to present the first Invitational Floral Design Exhibit at the annual Southland Orchid Show.
The show is Oct. 14-16 at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino.

SAN MARINO - Exhibitors from local orchid societies will display their prime blooms at the Southland Orchid Show Committee's annual show and sale Oct. 14 to 16, at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road.
The show will feature large floor installations with hundreds of exotic oncidiums, as well as cattleyas, cymbidiums, vandas, epidendrums, and many other orchid species and hybrids.

Southern California orchid growers and enthusiasts will gather for the seventh annual Southland Orchid Show Friday through Sunday at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.

A lecture, "Samuel Johnson and His Famous Dictionary," will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road.
Loren Rothschild, a Johnson collector and co-curator of the exhibit, "Samuel Johnson: Literary Giant of the 18th Century," will speak.

Brad Owen of the California School of Culinary Arts will discuss the Bordeaux region of France, famous for red and white wines. There will also be a tasting.

SAN MARINO - The Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Road, closes the book on its "Big Read" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday when award-winning journalist and KPCC radio host Patt Morrison moderates a panel discussion on Jack London's "The Call of the Wild.
