It's 5:30 on a bitterly cold Thursday morning and John Montone, 1010 WINS Radio's colorful morning newsman, is scanning the Times Square streetscape for someone to interview about the weather. For Montone, who leaves his house in Glen Rock each morning at 3:45 and files his first live report at 5, finding people who are up and about while most everyone else is still asleep is one of the peculiar challenges of his job. On mornings like this, when the AccuWeather "RealFeel" temperature is hovering around zero, that challenge is even more daunting.

You give 1010 WINS Radio's Sandi Klein 22 minutes, she'll give you - well, she's not sure yet. It'll be "the world," one way or another. That's what the all- news station - celebrating its 40th anniversary this week - always promises in its relentlessly repeated slogan. "You Give Us 22 Minutes, We'll Give You the World." But with about eight minutes to go before Klein is up to bat, "the world" isn't exactly going according to script this particular Tuesday afternoon.

WINS-AM's (1010) Alice Stockton-Rossini is into exercising and wants to share her "fit facts" with the world. So she and WINS have put together a blog and video offering facts on certain training routines to Web users.

Break out the diamonds, WSOU-FM (89.5) will celebrate its 60th year on April 14. In celebration, some very recognizable Seton Hall alumni will return to the student-run station for a "Throwback Day." Those taking turns spinning records for the day include Glenn Schuck of WINS-AM (1010), New York traffic reporter Peter Tauriello and WNEW- FM's (102.7) Brandi Ferraro.
John Montone never knows where he'll spend his mornings. The Ridgefield native, who has been on WINS-AM (1010) for 23 years, could be in midtown Manhattan asking cabbies about the latest ticket blitz one day. The next, he could be at a noisy diner in New Jersey soliciting thoughts on The Donald.
